Every school who is a member of our Green Fingered Kids scheme has had enough vouchers for all of their pupils sent to them and should be sending one home with each pupil. All you need do is bring the voucher with you to give in during any transaction at Woodcote Green to earn your school credit to spend with us!
Our voucher scheme saw thousands of vouchers handed out in store to give to local schools. The three top collectors this year were;
Alongside our spring voucher scheme this year we also ran a competition which gave the chance for member schools to win up to £500 credit on top of the amount they collected with their vouchers. we asked them to write a small piece on any gardening project that they ran or were connected with whether it be a wildlife area, vegetable patch or sensory garden.
The response was sensational and we were proud to announce the winners of this competition at our Award Ceremony held during our Open Week in September.
Launched in 2007, the Green Fingered Kids scheme was designed to get more schools and school children growing and gardening.
In 2009, a further 70 schools joined the existing number bringing the current membership to our scheme to over 140 schools signed up to the program to collect vouchers towards their gardening clubs. Over £6000 of credit has been has been donated to the schools so far as a direct result of our voucher scheme so far in 2009 alone. This can be spent on gardening accessories, tools, seeds and/or plants at Woodcote Green Nurseries top aid schools in teaching their students about gardens and gardening, healthy eating and the natural world.
General Manager Phil Barnden said, "it's been an overwhelming success. It's a brilliant way to get youngsters gardening and a great way for us to continue supporting our community. We are thrilled to have so many local schools participating and have plans to extend the scheme even further."
