Our Spring 2010 Voucher Scheme has finished!
The Spring 'vouchers for schools' scheme has come to a close. All registered schools must submit their collected vouchers before the closing date of Saturday 31st July. For extra submission forms, please click the 'Spring 2010 voucher submission' button to download a copy.
Each voucher is worth 25p so simply return these to your school who can then submit these to us to get credit to spend on plants, seeds and gardening equipment.
181 local schools are now registered and will have been sent information about the scheme so if your school is not a member and would like to take advantage of the scheme before the deadline then they can simply register using the 'Sign up today' button.
History of the Scheme
Launched in 2006, the Green Fingered Kids scheme was designed to get more schools and school children growing and gardening.
In 2009, a further 70 schools joined the existing number bringing the current membership to our scheme to over 140 schools signed up to the program to collect vouchers towards their gardening clubs. Over £7000 of credit was donated to schools as a direct result of our voucher schemes alone. This can be spent on gardening accessories, tools, seeds and/or plants at Woodcote Green Nurseries to aid schools in teaching their students about gardens and gardening, healthy eating and the natural world.
General Manager Phil Barnden said; "It's been an overwhelming success. It's a brilliant way to get youngsters gardening and a great way for us to continue supporting our community. We are thrilled to have so many local schools participating and have plans to extend the scheme even further."
2010 has shown an amazing response from schools, with membership now reaching 181 across an area that covers 3 counties allowing access for over 55,000 school children to horticulture and all that it can bring to their education.
